‘An Evening with Bill McGuire’

Derby on Monday 26th September

The author of ‘Hothouse Earth’ and Emeritus professor at University College London”

“I know a lot of people working in climate science who say one thing in public but a very different thing in private.”

This meeting is very important because of the issues it raises. In essence he, and other scientists are extremely worried because climate breakdown is happening faster and more extensively than even the scientists feared. Pakistan is but one example.

Bill will tell us about this at the meeting. In my view it is important that we tell people the truth, as XR have been saying, no matter how depressing. But this also leaves us with the issue of what can we do, and how can we motivate and involve people. These themes will also be addressed at the meeting.

In the meantime 32 people have signed up. It is important that we fill the room, which can take 100 people.  Here is the Eventbrite link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/403646877677

We want people to attend face to face. If they are not able to attend there is a similar event at the Whitworth, near Matlock, on the 27th www.thewhitworth.org ). However an idea is to send a recording out afterwards. Can somebody please provide a camera and tripod and help record the meeting?
